This blog reports on the progress of Umm el-Jimal Project’s activities in 2012, which include a substantial preservation project at House XVII-XVIII and the completion of a number of components of the Umm el-Jiaml Virtual Museum which are being published on the Umm el-Jimal Website. These reports began with the January Planning and Field School phase, including the travel adventures of the Calvin College student participants. Current updates will focus on the actual implementation of these plans as the field work at House XVII-XVIII progresses from February through June 2012. We will also report on the publication of components of the virtual museum on the website as they occur. More information about the site of Umm el-Jimal can be found at http://www.ummeljimal.org/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umm_el_jimal.
